Out of the 150 Malaysian students who attended the celebration, many took some time off their studies and came as far as Lille, Valenciennes, Le Havre, Colmar, Blois and Angouleme to savour Malaysian food.
The guests were treated to traditional Malaysian Hari Raya cuisines, such as lemang, rendang, nasi minyak, nasi impit, kuah kacang, acar and Hari Raya cookies. The Malaysians were also thrilled to get to taste the Mee mamak and teh tarik at the Open House.
The Hari Raya Open House celebration was one of the main festive celebrations organized by the Embassy, which are now popular events amongst Malaysians in Paris and France at large. The chilly autumm weather did not prevent the ladies from coming in their elegant baju kurung or kebaya while some men wore colourful baju melayu and batik shirts despite the cold. The French guests who were at the reception had a great time sampling the variety of traditional Malaysian food being served. Many of them were spouses of Malaysians or who have working closely with the Embassy.
