Fellow Malaysian Thomas Ng Ngit Foong, better known as Chef Foong to some of his friends passed away suddenly on Monday morning, March 6 after falling victim to a stroke on Friday afternoon.
We are all very sad as we will miss this kind and jovial man who was always willing to share his cooking knowledge. During the time he owned and operated Chez Foong restaurant, MAF has been able to use his establishment to hold a couple of functions, notably to welcome the present Ambassador, Her Excellency Dato' Hamidah Mohd Yusoff.
Last October, Chef Foong gave a radio talk show on BeurFM in Paris to talk about Malaysian cooking during the month of Ramadan and where he shared some of his favourite recipes. Click here to for his recipes
Recently, Chef Foong was invited by Tourism Malaysia Paris to promote Malaysia as a Culinairy Ambassador, a project that he was really excited about as it would enable him to share and promote Malaysian cuisine to the world, particular to France and Europe. As a culinairy ambassador he was to be the spokesperson for Malaysian cuisine in France, cooking workshops and there were also plans to showcase Malaysian specialities in Spain at the end of the year with Tourism Malaysia Paris.
Chef Foong worked very closely too with MATRADE and the other Malaysian Government agencies had great plans to work with this talented, versatile, fluent French speaking Malaysian to promote our country.
His untimely death is a great loss to his family, friends and country.
Anna, Tony and Sania, the family of the late Thomas Ng Ngit Foong, would like to express their profound gratitude for the support and help they recieved during their recent bereavement.
They would like to especially thank Malaysian Ambassador Her Excellency Dato Hamidah Mohd Yusoff and staff of the Malaysian Embassy, Tourism Malaysia Paris, Malaysian Airlines-Paris and MATRADE for their assistance and for being present. They thank also members of MAF who have given their time and effort to help organise the funeral for Chef Foong.
